The SoMa Leadership Council is a grassroots, nonpartisan organization of community activists from all over South of Market. It’s been in existence since 2001 and has gained credibility throughout the city by virtue of its broad-based membership and consensus building processes. We focus on good planning and good government.
The SoMa Leadership Council played a significant role in resolving the issues surrounding live/work development, was instrumental in the formation of the San Francisco Entertainment Commission, has supported numerous quality of life initiatives and out of frustration with the city’s own planning efforts and the effects they were having on South of Market wrote the legislation that created the Western SoMa Citizens Planning Task Force.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month in the community room of the Folsom/Dore Apartments, 1346 Folsom Street, at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Membership is open to anyone interested in helping to ensure that South of Market remains a compassionate, diverse, vibrant and complete neighborhood.
